An updated Strategic Plan, our vision for the Library's near future and the roadmap to achieving that vision, is complete as of March 2017.  The Library Board of Trustees, Director and staff collaborated with a nationally-known library consulting firm, Library Development Solutions (Princeton, NJ), to identify opportunities for improvement and growth in all aspects of the Library's collections, services and programs. 

The process of creating a new Plan began in the spring of 2016 with a series of focus groups with the Library staff, the Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library and members of the AWPL Foundation.  The process then engaged the patron community with a survey soliciting feedback on collections, programs and services and suggestions for new initiatives.  Over 800 patrons responded.  Together, the meetings and survey offered insights into what might be changed or be added to the Library's services to help it improve and adapt to community needs. 

The completion of the Strategic Plan is not a conclusion, but a beginning.  We thank all who provided the fresh ideas, inspiration and thoughtful critiques that shaped the Plan, which will guide us as we enhance and innovate over the next five years.
