Solar Eclipse 2017
Although Warwick was not in the "path of totality" of the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, residents were nonetheless awestruck and privileged to witness 71% coverage of the sun by the moon. Albert Wisner Public Library held a viewing party, including screening the live stream of the eclipse broadcast by NASA, making eclipse viewers using cardboard cereal boxes, offering eclipse-related snacks and distributing protective eclipse glasses for patrons to share. About 250 people turned out to share the event and activities together, making for a unifying, festive atmosphere for all to enjoy on a sunny, warm day.
Warwick Cafe Reading Program - Diary of A Young Girl
Seven cafes in the Village of Warwick agreed to display and share copies of Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. Patrons were encouraged to take the books to read, then either return them or pass them along to friends. The project was the brainchild of Mayor Michael Newhard, inspired by the Library's travelling exhibit of "Reading and Writing with Anne Frank," on display March 22, 2015-May 15, 2015.
Conversations with Agnes Adler - April 19, 2015
Agnes Adler recounted how her experiences as a Holocaust survivor, rescued by Raoul Wallenberg, informed her creative life. She graciously agreed to speak at the Library as part of its exhibit "Reading and Writing with Anne Frank," on loan from the Anne Frank Center USA from March 22, 2015 - May 15, 2015.
Teen Battle of the Books 2014
A team of teens from AWPL competed in a spirited book trivia contest against eight other RCLS libraries. Teen AWPL came in second place!
Vietnam Era Veterans Reception - December 8, 2013
The Library was delighted to display photos and artifacts shared by Vietnam-era veterans for a collection exhibited for November and December 2013. On December 8, the Library hosted a reception honoring these veterans and their families. They gathered to meet, share stories and recollections and accept thanks for their service from local citizens.

Reading to Dogs at the Library
Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) is a program of Intermountain Therapy Animals. The program seeks to improve the literacy skills of children through the assistance of registered therapy teams as literacy mentors. Children read to specially-trained dogs and improve their reading, communication skills and confidence.
First Anniversary Celebration 11/14/10
