World War I is frequently overshadowed by its successor, despite the Great War's own massive scale and impact.  However, this was the war that moved America's status from a regional power into a recognized and respected world power.  Often, history is discussed from the perspective of politicians, heroes and military generals.  This program focuses instead on stories and feats of the men of Orange County, NY who fought to make the world safe for democracy.

Aaron Lefkowitz is an independent historian affiliated with the Orange County Historian's Office and the Chester Historical Society.
