Capoeira is an exuberant martial art that combines high energy rhythms with exciting acrobatic movements. The art was created by Afro-Brazilians slaves during Brazil's colonial period. Because they were not allowed to practice any form of self-defense nor to use weapons, enslaved Afro-Brazilians disguised their training to look like a dance.
Join us for an afternoon of dance, martial arts and traditional songs and rhythms.
This is an outdoor concert; please bring a lawn chair or blanket. There is unlimited seating. In the case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Community Room and will be limited to the first 80 people on the registration list.
