Fossil Dig: A Citizen Science Project

Enrollment limited to Warwick cardholders until August 6th; open registrationafter August 6th.
A rare chance to participate in scientific study of fossils, this workshop will have participants in teams sorting 9,000 fossil matrix earth from the Hyde Park Mastodon dig and noting their findings for scientists. You will find fossil shells, plant remains, prehistoric animal hair then record your findings and the sorted materials will be returned to the Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, NY for further study. Bring a camera to record your finds! The workshop will begin with a viewing of the Discovery Channel program on the Hyde Park dig, and after a brief 'training', participants will begin their projects by 2:00. Open to children 10 and up with parent, teens, and adults.
