Psychologists and neuroscientists now know a lot more about Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) than in the past.  ADHD is not hyperactivity nor too much energy.  ADHD actually arises from challenges with executive functions, or the complex cognitive skills that include sustained attention (being able to stay focused even when things aren’t so interesting), response inhibition (the ability to control impulses), time management and emotional regulation.  Dr. Poggioli’s talk will focus on:

  • the 11 executive functions, and at what ages they develop;
  • how executive functions relate to ADHD and to other attentional disorders, and
  • what parents can do to strengthen their children’s executive functions - and their own!

Jessica Poggioli, Psy.D., is a NJ- and NY-Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in the assessment of learning disorders and ADHD.

Childcare will be provided for children under 10yrs upon request a week prior to the program.  Call the Help Desk with the number and ages of the children needing care.  986-1047 ext. 3
